Is the war over?

At Tales of the Cocktail this year there was a very interesting panel on the difference between east coast and west coast bartenders. The discussion did not at have the same intensity as the Biggie v. Tupac rap wars of 1996  but it was interesting to hear that many felt that a west coast bartender’s day started “at the farmer’s market” while a typical east coast bartender’s day began “in the library” researching drink recipes from a bygone era or learning about molecular chemistry.
